Sandy a 'Teachable Moment' for Raising Charity-Minded Kids ...

Many of the Americans reaching out to help victims of Superstorm Sandy are looking for ways to involve their children in relief efforts to foster long-term philanthropic feelings across generations, says?Reuters. Experts say children?s interest in charity spikes after national disasters and that lessons learned in such periods are often lasting.

?Sandy is a tragedy, but it?s also a teachable moment,? said Craig Kielburger of Free the Children, a nonprofit group that battles child poverty and exploitation. Mr. Kielburger founded the charity 17 years ago when, at age 12, he came across a news story about child slavery abroad.
