ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) ? Hundreds of St. Patrick?s Center clients will have a much happier Thanksgiving thanks to some generous donations.? The clients, many who were formerly homeless, picked up turkeys and all the fixins this morning at the center?s headquarters downtown. The recipients are enrolled in St. Patrick`s programs designed to help them better their own lives.
The donated meals are basically a reward for the clients who are helping themselves.
?It?s very challenging to get through a lot of the programs that we offer at St. Patrick`s Center from our fast track GED programs to living skills programs to a lot of our employment training so this is a way for us to say great job and enjoy and a take a day off and enjoy it with your families,? said St. Patrick`s CEO Tom Etling.
?This is my Thanksgiving dinner. I don`t have any food- not like this, not what they`re able to provide,? added Patricia Rucker.
Patricia is a St. Patrick`s client who is a Navy veteran and was homeless for some time.
400 clients and their families area benefited from the event.
The donations came in from several sources including Schnucks and the Nooter Corporation.
