POLICE-PROTESTER LOVE?

As the Republican National Convention wears on, protesters are getting worn out.

The busloads of protesters ? who are staying at a makeshift camp dubbed "Romneyville" ? have seen their food and water supplies dwindle. Law enforcement has noticed, as well.

So on Thursday morning, police brought boxed lunches of sandwiches, fruits and ice-cold water to Romneyville. Chief Jane Castor said police had extra food, so they decided to donate it rather than throw it out.

Castor, during a morning news conference, said simply: "We're here to serve the public."

WHO'S TUNING IN

Sure, political conventions aim to fire up the die-hard partisans in the arena, but they're also made-for-TV events designed to appeal to undecided voters. Recent polling suggests they may not be hitting their mark.

A Pew Research Center survey before the Republican convention began found just over four in 10 adults were interested in following each party's convention.

Partisans were most interested in their own gathering ? 70 percent of Republicans were interested in this week's events and 66 percent of Democrats were interested in their party's upcoming convention. Fewer partisans check in on the other team: 41 percent of Democrats were interested in the goings-on in Tampa, Fla., while 28 percent of Republicans were interested in tuning in for Obama's re-nomination.

Among independents, just 37 percent said they were interested in the Republican convention, 36 percent in the Democratic one.

For Republicans angling for young, disaffected Obama voters, the convention may not be their best chance. Overnight ratings for the GOP convention suggested less than 10 percent of viewers were under age 35. The Pew poll found less than 30 percent of twenty-somethings were interested in the political conventions.

ROMNEY PREVIEW

In his big speech, Mitt Romney will make a direct appeal to voters who felt excited to cast a ballot for Barack Obama four years ago.

"If you felt that excitement when you voted for Barack Obama, shouldn't you feel that way now that he's President Obama?" Romney says in excerpts released before his Thursday night speech. "You know there's something wrong with the kind of job he's done as president when the best feeling you had, was the day you voted for him."

You've been let down, Romney's telling former Obama voters, by a presidency that lapsed into disappointment and division.

"Many Americans have given up on this president, but they haven't ever thought about giving up," Romney says. "Not on themselves. Not on each other. And not on America."

Riffing on Obama's 2008 catchphrase, "Yes we can," Romney plans to tell Americans, "Now is the moment when we CAN do something."

What can Americans do, according to Romney? Vote for him.

POLITICAL FOOTBALL

There may be large swaths of a Republican stronghold otherwise occupied during Mitt Romney's big speech Thursday night. College football debuts at the same time, and that can trump anything else on TV, especially in the pigskin-crazy South.

The marquee matchup happens down in Tennessee, with Steve Spurrier's No. 9 South Carolina Gamecocks taking on the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville at 7 p.m. EDT. But the GOP probably isn't worried about losing interest or votes in either South Carolina or Tennessee, both of which are normally reliable Republican states in presidential contests.

TEMPEST OVER A TEMPEST

The Democratic Party chairwoman, who also happens to be a Floridian, is slamming Republicans' decision to continue with their Tampa convention as the Gulf Coast was battered by a hurricane.

She says it's an example of the GOP's "continued focus on winning at all costs."

"I will note that the parties, the special interest fund bashes that were not canceled, went on in spite of the fact that our state was getting hit and Tampa was in the path of the storm," Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said at a press conference Thursday, when asked if Republicans had acted wisely by canceling the first day of their convention.

"I give them credit for canceling the first day," she said. "The way they handled it going forward as the rest of the region was getting battered - probably a challenging situation for them. There are other ways they could have handled it other than the way they chose. They could have taken things down a notch."

IT'S ABOUT THE MOMENT

After watching the boss try out the podium and the teleprompters, senior aide Eric Fehrnstrom was in no mood to lower expectations. He predicted a great performance from Mitt Romney as he formally accepts the presidential nomination Thursday night.

"These speeches are just as much about the moment as they are about the words," Fehrnstrom said. "One thing we know about Mitt Romney is that he always rises to the occasion.

"This is the biggest speech of his political career. And I have no doubt that he will deliver the best speech of his political career."

STANDING O

Mitt Romney got a standing ovation in the convention hall ? six hours before he was set to take the stage for his speech.

Romney and running mate Paul Ryan stopped in for an afternoon walk-through at the Forum in Tampa, Fla., where Romney formally accepts the presidential nomination Thursday night.

Delegates milling around the mostly empty hall stood and applauded for Romney and Ryan, both dressed in suit and tie.

The two paused for photographs near the podium with campaign staff, including senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom and policy director Lanhee Chan.

After that, Romney stood at the podium while aides adjusted the height of his teleprompter.

Minutes later, they were gone.

SAY WHAT?

Arizona Republican Gov. Jan Brewer has proclaimed her support for the election of ... Barack Obama?

Clearly just a verbal slip, says her spokesman. The governor's skirmishes with the Obama administration over the issue of illegal immigration are well-known. At one point she was captured on camera pointing an angry finger at the president as they talked on an airport tarmac.

Brewer's surprising comment came in an MSNBC interview Wednesday at the GOP convention in Tampa, Fla., as she renewed her call for improved security on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Brewer said she was hopeful Obama would be elected in November so he could help come up with a solution. She didn't correct herself, nor was she prompted to.

Brewer spokesman Matthew Benson said Thursday that the governor isn't the first person to misspeak amid the chaos of a crowded room.

For the record: Brewer continues to endorse Republican Mitt Romney for president.

FUNEREAL?

At a thank-you luncheon Wednesday for campaign supporters, Ann Romney enthused that the convention has given her a chance to "see so many people you've known" over time.

"It's like going to your own funeral," she joked.

Maybe not the best metaphor.

___

COUSIN WHO?

On his big speech day, Mitt Romney spent the morning visiting with family ? family in the triple digits.

"About 120 of our family gathered," Romney told campaign donors gathered in a banquet hall in St. Petersburg. "And it's amazing how the families come together in times like this. We got our pictures taken with some members we hadn't seen in a long time. It was heartwarming."

ROMNEY PREGAME

No matter what GOP nominee Mitt Romney says Thursday night, it'll join the reel of history.

In that spirit, the public affairs-focused cable channel C-SPAN warmed up its audience Thursday with a trip down convention memory lane.

C-SPAN aired convention addresses of Republican nominees past, starting with Barry Goldwater's "renew freedom's vision" speech at San Francisco's Cow Palace Arena in 1964. Throughout the afternoon, viewers could see archived remarks of Richard Nixon in 1968, Ronald Reagan in 1984, George H.W. Bush in 1998 and George W. Bush in 2000.

A NEW STAGE

Mitt Romney's convention planners transformed part of the Forum overnight, getting ready for the big finale ? the presidential nominee's speech to the nation.

They extended the stage about 12 feet out into the crowd and surrounded the bottom of the steps with a see-through barrier. They're still drilling and working on it, and the podium is gone at the moment. A bunch of people are testing the stability of the new stage now. Currently, the center seats are gone, but there's still a space where they haven't put down new carpeting and it looks like the seats will go there.

A GHOSTLY PRESENCE

Former President George W. Bush may be a ghostly presence at the Republican National Convention, but his brother expects him to get top billing, of sorts, next week.

"He'll be more at the Charlotte convention," joked former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on "CBS This Morning." He was referring to the Democratic National Convention that begins Tuesday and is likely to feature lots of George Bush-bashing.

Jeb Bush acknowledges that his brother has been a target because voters blame him for the nation's economic problems. The former president has held no place of honor at the GOP convention other than a video tribute.

That doesn't mean he isn't tuning in to the convention.

"I think he's watching it, and I know he's interested in it," Jeb Bush said. "He's curious about this country. But his attitude is, 'Look, I had a chance, I served, I did my best. It's Mitt Romney's night. It's his turn.'"

MEET REINCE

David Letterman wants to help people get to know Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus.

He couldn't resist milking some jokes out of that intriguing name.

So Letterman put together a gauzy little biographical segment about Priebus for Wednesday night's "Late Show."

All you need to know:

"Reince Priebus is the chairman of the Republican National Committee. He's a lawyer and a former chairman of the Wisconsin Republican Party. He has four brothers: Roink, Rurch, Remp and Rift. Now you know Reince Priebus."

BE NICE

President Barack Obama has some nice things to say about Mitt Romney. Really.

He got asked by Time magazine whether there were things "that you actually do admire" about the GOP nominee.

And the Time interviewer specifically asked for something other than the usual dodges about Romney having a nice family and working on health care in Massachusetts.

Here's what Obama came up with:

"He strikes me as somebody who is very disciplined. And I think that that is a quality that obviously contributed to his success as a private equity guy. I think he takes his faith very seriously. And as somebody who takes my Christian faith seriously, I appreciate that he seems to walk the walk and not just be talking the talk when it comes to his participation in his church."

LATE-NIGHT MITT

The voters Mitt Romney most needs to connect with during Thursday's acceptance speech aren't in the Republican National Convention hall. They're swing voters in their living rooms in places like Iowa, Nevada and Virginia.

Romney, now the official GOP nominee, takes the stage in the 10 o'clock hour in Tampa, Fla.

Of the states deemed most competitive for the fall, four are in the Eastern time zone: Florida, New Hampshire, Ohio and Virginia. Two are an hour behind in the Central time zone: Iowa and Wisconsin.

Romney's speech will be delivered in the 8 p.m. hour in Colorado and the 7 p.m. hour in Nevada.

GOP's final night is about telling Romney's story

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? When Mitt Romney addresses the Republican convention Thursday night, he'll do it from a stage that puts him a little bit closer to the crowd inside the convention hall. His campaign hopes the evening ends with Americans feeling a little bit closer to the Republican presidential candidate, too.

On this night, they are telling Romney's story.

The entire evening ? from the physical staging to the speakers' program to the planned whole-family entrance after Romney's big speech ? is aimed at introducing the sometimes stiff and distant politician as a businessman, Olympic savior and deeply religious family man. His pitch to his party, as well as to the many undecided voters who are disappointed in the country's direction, will be that he's the candidate better able to shoulder the country's economic burdens.

"It will be my privilege to stand at the podium to accept the nomination," Romney wrote in an email to supporters Thursday morning. "And I will stand not just for every supporter, and not just for the Republican Party ? I'll stand for every American who believes our best days are ahead."

Romney's speech is the centerpiece of the evening, and will touch on themes that are both personal and political. He'll tell stories, aides say, that haven't been part of his campaign trail pitch. He'll discuss his Mormon faith, particularly his time helping struggling families when he served as a church leader in Boston. He'll also present what advisers described as a "clear vision" of a Romney presidency.

"I commit to you that I will be the president this moment demands," Romney wrote.

To prepare for the big night, Romney has spent months making meticulous notes about his experiences campaigning. He's read numerous previous convention speeches and talked to a number of close friends and confidants about how to approach his address. He and his wife, Ann, spent part of last weekend rehearsing their speeches in an auditorium at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., near the family's lakeside summer home.

When the big moment comes, he'll be standing in the Tampa Bay Times Forum on a stage that organizers rebuilt overnight. They replaced what had been a standard stage at the front of the hall with a section that pushes the podium toward the center of the floor, so Romney will physically stand among the crowd as he speaks.

"It brings him a little bit closer," campaign manager Matt Rhoades said of the new arrangement.

Before Romney speaks, a parade of people from his past will take to the podium to walk through different phases of his life: his time running the private equity firm Bain Capital, his years running the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and his experiences as governor of Massachusetts. Referred to inside the campaign as "character witnesses," the speeches are designed to showcase the man who friends say inspires fierce loyalty. Much of the list was drawn up by Romney's son Tagg, who found acquaintances from their Mormon church in Massachusetts to talk about how his father helped them get by.

Among those set to address the crowd are Bob White, a longtime friend and colleague from Bain Capital, and Tom Stemberg, the founder of Staples, the office supply store; Olympic speed skater Derek Parra and hockey player Mike Eruzione; and former Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey, who is still a closer adviser.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Eastern time, organizers will run a film showcasing Romney's life. A handful of young video staffers have spent weeks working 16-hour days inside a suite at the Marriott hotel where Romney is now staying, editing the piece through the wee hours of the morning.

Then, it will be Romney's turn. When the speech is over, he'll walk back up the stage to where his entire family ? wife, five sons and their wives, and 15 of his 18 grandchildren ? will be waiting. Thousands of balloons nestled in netting high above the convention floor will drop, carefully positioned so that none fall on the family.

It will create the image his campaign is looking for. At that Marriott hotel the morning of the speech, Rhoades saw a copy of Thursday's Tampa Bay Times, where, on the front page, running mate Paul Ryan and his family are pictured waving after his Wednesday night address, the vice presidential nominee's arm wrapped around the waist of his wife, Janna.

Rhoades pointed at the photo.

"We need that," he said.

'Charisma boy' Marco Rubio visits 'Daily Show'

By Craig Berman, NBC News contributor

?A party too patriotic for facts. A candidate too successful for taxes. A city too humid to breathe.? What? Would you expect a different tone from ?The Daily Show? coverage of the Republican National Convention?

Jon Stewart opened Comedy Central?s coverage of the RNC Tuesday night, live from Tampa. But after all the jokes about the city?s humidity and the strip clubs -- clearly hosting the convention brings ridicule as well as revenue ?- Stewart got to sit down with Senator Marco Rubio, the Florida Republican who?s a rising star in the party.

Rubio was on the short list to be Mitt Romney?s vice president, but instead will have to content himself with introducing the nomine on Thursday. Jon Stewart tried to make Rubio feel better about the diss.

?You, my friend, you dodged it. Because let?s say he wins. As his vice president, it would have been uncomfortable for you to run against him in 2016.?

Rubio smiled the uncomfortable smile of someone who has thought about the next election once or twice before.

Stewart turned the subject to the introduction, and the contrast between the dynamic Rubio and the, well, more mundane Romney. ?Have they said to you, ?Hey, charisma boy, take it down a notch??

?The only thing they?ve asked me to do is introduce the governor,? Rubio said. ?They gave me 15 minutes to say anything I want.?

When Rubio takes the stage Thursday night, the theme will be ?American Exceptionalism. As Stewart said, that doesn?t seem controversial. But Rubio noted the similarities to the Obama message of four years ago.

?Who would be against hope and change -- until they show you what the change is?? Rubio said.

"America Strikes Back"

?Perhaps you?re more a fan of thinking of the campaign as ?America Strikes Back,? that paints the campaign like a "Star Wars" film where the Democrats are evilly seeking re-election and the noble Republicans are all that stand in their way?

If so, "The Colbert Report" was more your style. Though Steven Colbert isn?t in Tampa, he?s covering the convention with his usual amount of truthiness from the studio.

?It is going to be a thrilling week,? Colbert said. ?Warning, if you have heart condition or are pregnant, you should not watch. Not because of the excitement, but because you probably won?t like the Republican position on health care and reproductive rights.?

Colbert spent some time talking with conservative columnist/Obama supporter Andrew Sullivan, and the faux fangs were out from the beginning.

?Four years ago, you were an early conservative to come out in favor of Barack Obama and to say ?he?s the guy,? Colbert said. ?The guy you specifically said to lead us away from the sort of Nixonian fights over the culture wars. ... You were wrong!?

Clearly Colbert has a point, as evidenced by the ads that will be on every commercial break between now and Election Day. Sullivan admitted his error, but said, ?I was only wrong to think that the Republicans might just have the good grace a patriotism to actually cooperate with an incoming president,? but still supports Obama ?because the other party?s gotten nutsier than it was last time.?

Colbert also brought up same-sex marriage, an issue that Sullivan has championed.

?Isn?t the gay community all-in for him because he pandered -- ?pandered! -- by obeying his conscience,? Colbert asked.

?A lot of gay people are in for him, because he actually is the most important president in the history of our civil rights, and I?m grateful for that,? Sullivan said.

maryland juice: DOUBLE-STANDARD: Feds Moving 450 Treasury ...

WEST VIRGINIA TO GAIN MARYLAND JOBS: The Washington Post yesterday reported that the federal government plans to move 450 Treasury Department jobs out of Maryland to neighboring West Virginia. The rationale for the "consolidation" is that it would help the agency more efficiently use its facilities (excerpt below):
WASHINGTON POST: The federal government is relocating 450 Treasury Department jobs from Hyattsville to Parkersburg, West Virginia as part of a move to consolidate operations....

According to the General Services Administration, which manages federal real estate, the move will help Treasury meet a directive from President Obama for agencies to more efficiently use their facilities....

After hearing the news from Treasury officials, U.S. Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) issued a press release Wednesday expressing disappointment and suggesting that workers receive help finding new jobs....

Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin, as well as Representatives Steny Hoyer, Chris Van Hollen and Elijah E. Cummings, all Democrats, attached statements to Edwards? also condemned the move.

MASSACHUSETTS TRIES TO RETAIN JOBS MOVING TO MARYLAND: But Senator Barbara Mikulski proposed a similar consolidation of 200 fisheries management jobs from Massachusetts to Maryland, and that plan is seemingly facing a great deal more resistance. Either the Federal government believes in efficiency through geographic consolidation of its workforce or it doesn't. See excerpts from The Gloucester Times below:
GLOUCESTER TIMES: U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski?s idea to relocate the Northeast Regional Office of the National Marine Fisheries Service from Gloucester to near NMFS? headquarters in Silver Spring, Md., would be costly and ?could be disruptive? and inefficient, NOAA reported to Congress this week....

The U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee approved a fiscal 2013 spending plan for NOAA in April that included an amendment to close the Northeast Regional Office in Gloucester and move the bulk of fisheries management, administration and law enforcement to Silver Spring, Md....

Opposition to the move locally was based on the economic impact of having more than 200 of NOAA?s mostly highly paid employees working and living in and near the city....

Will Maryland become the victim of a double-standard when it comes to the Federal government consolidating offices?

Game Over: Sony Planning Possible 'Console Wars' Movie ...

When you hear of a ?console war? it brings all sorts of images to your head ? various gaming systems battling it out in a field of red rings and shattered motion controllers comes to mind.

In actuality, it?s an ad-driven competition between various gaming companies to see which one will be the top dog of the industry. Sounds a little less pleasing after hearing that, but to Sony it sounds like?the perfect movie.

For those that have paid attention to this ?war? here?s a quick run down of events: Sega and Nintendo used to be the kings of the gaming world, then Sony and Microsoft waltzed their way into our homes with brighter graphics and sleeker systems.?Now Sega just makes games to stay alive?and Nintendo decided to play with its Wii in the corner, leaving Sony and Microsoft to duke it out alone. That is the quickest, simplest?version of the last 20 years of gaming.

Other then those names, most regular people might not understand the everyday, behind-the-scenes details and tactics of those same companies in a big-budget movie. According to gaming news site Joystiq?though, this hasn?t stopped Sony from registering a list of domains in preparation for the Console Wars, their tale on the everlasting war between consoles and developers. Kris Tapley of In Contention has commented on this news, saying he?s heard about the project and that it?s going to be like Social Network, but for video games.

Just take a look at these domains they registered:

console-war.net
console-warmovie.com
console-wars.net
console-warsmovie.com
consolewar-movie.com
consolewar-movie.net
consolewar.net
consolewarmovie.com
consolewars-movie.com

theconsolewar-movie.com
theconsolewar-movie.net
theconsolewar.net
theconsolewarmovie.com
theconsolewars-movie.com
theconsolewars-movie.net
theconsolewarsmovie.com

We don?t know how all of this will play out, but seeing how this is mainly a Sony picture it might be a bit one-sided when it comes to those ?other? gaming companies. No news yet on whether any?of these said companies has tried to stop or delay the development of this movie, but give it time.

Special thanks to /Film for the heads up

Myers Bigel Shares Patent Law Best Practices at ... - NCTechNews

(Raleigh, N.C.) Myers Bigel Sibley & Sajovec, P.A. (Myers Bigel), the largest independent patent law firm in North Carolina, recently shared information and best practices in biotechnology patents at the inaugural Triangle Biotech Research Symposium held at the NC Biotechnology Center in Research Triangle Park. Patent attorney Shawna Lemon, Ph.D., J.D., delivered the presentation ?Industry + University + Start-Up = RTP; Embracing Serendipity and Protecting Innovation? at the event on August 21st, addressing a packed house of biotech professionals. ?What resonated with a number of people were my comments regarding patent strategy, specifically timing of filing, which will be impacted by upcoming changes to implement a first-to-file system effective March 16, 2013,? Dr. Lemon said.

In her presentation, Dr. Lemon ? whose practice areas include biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical ? examined how patents are used within universities, startups and established companies; visited the dangers of weak patents; and gave insight into when innovators should consider beginning the patent process.

?If a claim is written too narrowly, it may be difficult to enforce it successfully when challenged,? she said, pointing to the importance of protecting innovation from competitor design-around when putting together strong patents.

Like her peers at Myers Bigel, Dr. Lemon utilizes her combination of scientific and patent law expertise to relate to inventors and fully comprehend the nuances of each patent application she is developing for clients, covering the full scope of an invention so the patent can stand up to legal challenges. The firm?s Biotechnology practice group represents many corporate, university and research institute clients throughout the United States in areas including oncology, cardiovascular disease, women?s health, autoimmune disease, infectious disease, bone disease, pulmonary disorders, gastrointestinal disease and vaccines.

With a B.S. in Biology and Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences (with a concentration in pharmacology), Dr. Lemon is joined in the Biotechnology practice group by attorneys Erin Bobay, B.A. in Chemistry and Biology and Master?s in Biochemistry; Alice Bonnen, Ph.D., B.S. and Master?s in Plant Physiology, Doctorate in Plant Pathology; Karen Magri, Ph.D., B.S. in Animal Science, Master?s in Animal Science, and Doctorate in Biology; Mary Miller, Ph.D., B.A. in Microbiology, Doctorate in Philosophy; Sherry Murphy, B.A. in Neuroscience (with a focus on Molecular Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics); Adam Rucker, B.S. in Agricultural Biotechnology and Biology, Master?s in Neuroscience; Robert Schwartzman, Ph.D., B.S. in Chemistry, Doctorate in Pharmacology; and Ken Sibley, B.A. in Biology and Psychology, Master?s in Neurobiology.

Myers Bigel has strived to achieve continuity of counsel, making a serious investment in building a stable team of practicing patent lawyers with unique technical backgrounds heavily engaged in improving their work, according to Managing Partner Jim Cannon.

?Our knowledgeable patent law experts continue to draft and prosecute an impressive number of patent applications in a wide range of technologies,? Cannon said.

In addition to Biotechnology, other practice groups at Myers Bigel include Chemical, Electronics and Computing, Mechanical, Trademark, University and Litigation.

According to Cannon, the extraordinarily low turnover of attorneys at Myers Bigel allows clients to work with the same attorney familiar with their specific technology or science and individual business throughout the full length of the patent application filing and grant process.

?Without needing to re-learn the technology or business specifics, our attorneys can focus on quality to ensure development of a strong patent that can be successfully enforced in court,? he explained.

Myers Bigel attorneys are dedicated to furthering best practices in patent law, regularly participating in regional and national symposia, seminars, and continuing education events like the Triangle Biotech Research Symposium.

The firm provides expertise in all intellectual property areas, including trademark and copyrights, as well as patents. Operating out of the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina, Myers Bigel represents corporate and university clients located in the Carolinas, throughout the Southeast, across the United States, and in Europe and Asia.

Iran takes over leadership of nonaligned group

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) ? Egypt's chief delegate has transferred the leadership of the Non-Aligned Movement to Iran, which is seeking to rebuild the Cold War-era group into a greater voice against Western influence.

Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister Ramzi Ezzeldin Ramzi formally gave Iran the rotating presidency of the 120-nation group Tuesday. Iran is currently hosting a weeklong gathering of the 51-year-old movement, which ends Friday.

Officials expected to attend include Egypt's President Mohamed Morsi, who would be the first Egyptian leader to visit Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Iran has a far-reaching agenda for the meetings, including trying to launch a peace effort for Syria with Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Syrian rebels are likely to reject any bids by Iran, which is a close ally of Bashar Assad.

Bankruptcy: 2 Common Types to Fix Your Financial Woes

In the tough financial climate that we find ourselves in, more and more people are becoming desperate for a financial solution to their economic woes.? Let?s face it: there is only so much you can do.? If you are forced to take a pay cut, or even worse, face the reality of being laid off, your options of paying your creditors becomes more and more slim.? There comes a point when bankruptcy may be a suitable option for you.

If you have been considering bankruptcy, then it probably is not as scary as you may be imagining.? While there are different forms of bankruptcy, you should never attempt to go through this process yourself.? What you need to do is to hire a bankruptcy attorney that is local to you.? There are several types of bankruptcy that I want to talk about, so that you have a better idea of what options are available and which option may be the better fit for you before you think about hiring a bankruptcy lawyer, and here they are:

Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

If you are drowning in credit card debt, personal loans, hospital bills, or other kinds of unsecured debt, then this option may be for you.? Chapter 7 bankruptcy has also been called ?fresh start bankruptcy? eliminates certain types of unsecured debts and renders them dischargeable giving you a fresh start.? Once again, it is imperative that you seek professional consulation before considering this option.

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy

Unlike Chapter 7 bankruptcy, where your debts are eliminated, if you opt for chapter 13 bankruptcy you are paying your debts under what might be considered a debt consolidation plan.? The benefit to this is that your debts and payments are handled by a trustee who deals with the creditors, so you don?t have to worry about annoying calls from creditors.? More importantly, however, you pay down your debts without accruing interest with the only exception being student loans.? In addition, you pay a single payment once per month as opposed to individual payments to each creditor.

So, there you have.? These are the two most common types of bankruptcy, and you want to consider the pros and cons of each before signing an agreement with an attorney.? When you meet with a bankruptcy lawyer, he or she will also be able to help you identify which bankruptcy option is best for you and your financial situation.

The Coolest Man In Rock! ? My Creative Writing Outlet

Welcome back (In case you weren?t overly shocked by my previous post :-) ). This one is off topic too, but I promise you, there cannot be a more positive post than this. Why? Because it?s about The Coolest Man In Rock!

If you haven?t guessed by the title, I?m talking about Dave Grohl, ExNirvana, Lead singer for Foo Fighters and drummer extraordinaire!

I love Dave Grohl (Who doesn?t?) and I wanted to discuss the 10 reasons for him being the coolest dude in Rock.

So why is Dave Grohl the coolest man in rock?

1. Because he doesn?t take himself too seriously and is not obsessed with his ?status? as a ?mega star?.

Because as opposed to so many tiresome singers, he?s just this guy who likes to sing and play drums and make fun of himself. His great attitude is very obvious in the following video (and on many others):

2. Because he helps new artists, and does not ?oppresses? his band mates ? Quite the contrary.

While never letting the Foo Fighters go unproductive, Grohl still finds the time to support new bands and collaborate with other artists. See one of the best examples in the video below:

He?s also not a dictator who ?oppresses? his band mates. Quite the contrary, being such a great guy, he let?s every Fighter take the center stage at the Foo Fighters concert and more importantly, has never put a wrench (excuse the pun) in any of his band mate?s aspirations. Just check out some of the other band member?s albums:

Taylor Hawkins solo album

Chris Shiftlett solo album

And come on folks, Pat Smear is a Foo Fighter! ?Nuff said!

3. Because he knows what it?s all about

When was the last time you saw a singer stop the show simply to make sure that no one fights and hurts other fans? What a cool dude! He knows that concerts are all about having fun! And on top of bringing it every night on stage, he just goes the extra mile to please the crowd. Whether by throwing out a violent fan, or simply playing along with the fans.

4. Because he speaks out against bigotry

Humor aside, the Foo Fighters under Dave Grohl?s leadership has been outspoken where it matters and joined quite a few causes speaking up for what they believe in. One example:

5. Because he has a great sense of humor

Did you see any Foo Fighters video? Here?s a tiny sample of the plethora of funny Dave Grohl moments:

6. Because he really loves and cares about what he does

It?s apparent in the way he talks about Music, his professional choices and in many other ways. Just check out this film:

7. Because he?s one of the best drummers of all time

The below video is just a sample, but really, listen to any song he drummed?

8. Because he?s just this nice guy

Who gave you a free full album show for free?

Dave Grohl did:

Who gives a fan a beer?

Dave Grohl did ?

He?s a nice guy, what can I say?

9. Because he came out of Kurt Cobain?s shadow and built an even bigger band.

How easy would it be for one to be ?Nirvana?s drummer? once Kurt Cobain killed himself? Want another challenge? How about Kurt?s wife hating your guts?

Well, Grohl respects Kurt (Probably a lot more than Courtney Love) but instead of evaporating into glorified retirement he went on to build a band.

Not only is the Foo Fighters not just a shadow of Nirvana, in many ways it already topped it. People (rightfully) see Dave Grohl as a completely separate entity to Nirvana and the band is much more prolific and stable. In many people?s eyes ? better.

10. Because I said so :-)

Please go ahead and share this:
